Bare Bones Session ~ Kira the Siberian Husky Puppy
You may remember the rather epic shoot I had with a pack of four stunning Siberian Huskies – Amber, Alaska, Dakoda and Kiah. Just a few weeks after our shoot in the pine forest, I received the news that beautiful Kiah had unexpectedly passed away after returning from a trip down to the snow. As the much loved original member of the pack, I know that she must have left a huge hole in the household.
Laurel and Kevin were already on the lookout for a female puppy, as their last two dogs were rescues. Kiah must have been watching over them, as not long after they lost her, they had the opportunity to get a female pup.
After a few false starts with pups no longer being available, Laurel and Kevin received a photo of Kira and fell in love, instantly knowing she was the one.
As soon as I heard they had a new member of the family, I gifted them a Bare Bones Session to book for their new addition. We met at a local park where Kira arrived in her own luxury transport – a special puppy stroller! We spent the next hour exploring and playing in the creek and surrounds, blessed with a lovely warm sunset for some beautiful fuzzy puppy backlit shots.
Joining this particular family, Kira is destined to become a member of the sled dog team with her brother and sisters. Lucky, as this gal LOVES to run! She showed off her impressive speed with enthusiastic glee, tempered with a dose of puppy crazy. Cutest thing ever!
At the end of the session I even got to give her some cuddles – oh my – puppy breath and super cute fuzziness, I was in heaven!
I’d been waiting for the perfect image to use for a medium sized canvas to replace a much older image I had hanging in my consult room. The shot of Kira standing, backlit with warm golden light, absolutely fitted the bill. It also happened to be the exact image Laurel and Kevin chose to order for their home.
So now in my consult room at Chew Chomp and Chill – Kiah looks over Kira from the opposite wall.
