2018 Wrap-up

The last time I wrote a yearly wrap-up was in 2015 (which was a pretty eventful year) but since then, I’ve been so time poor due to various projects, the next couple of years missed out.

Towards the end of 2018, with my workload finally starting to ease, I vowed to get this written and even though it’s now two weeks into 2019  – I figured better late than never!

My first-time experience with the AIPP Qld Epson Professional Photography Awards

It was July 2007. Armed with laminated A4 prints, shiny new business cards and a promotional banner, I first launched my new dog photography business at a local pet event on the Gold Coast. At the time, I had big dreams and high hopes, but no idea my business would grow to the extent it has, nearly 11 years later!

Deluxe Session ~ Benji at Montville

About a month after losing their family dog - a Mastiff / Bull Arab cross - Connie took her family to visit their local pet rescue shelter. Just for a look, of course! They ended up bringing home two 6 week old sibling foster pups. Benji’s sweet, happy and fun-loving temperament (along with his fat little roly-poly body and cute face) meant foster failure was inevitable.

Deluxe Session ~ Mia and Ella in Brisbane

It was third time lucky for my shoot with Mia and Ella who had come all the way from Eidsvold (about 5 hours from Brisbane) for their session with their mum and dad – Sarah and Daniel. Our first session was rained out, then on the second try the skies were shrouded in heavy cloud. On the third attempt we were blessed with clear blue skies and sunshine – the absolute perfect weather for me to create my sunlit style!

News ~ Lowepro Rocks!

For as long as I’ve been into photography (close to 15 years now) I’ve always had some type of Lowepro camera bag to haul around and protect my gear. My current day-to-day camera backpack is the Lowepro ProTactic 450AW – I love it as it’s super comfy to wear and practical for the sort of outdoors shooting I do.

Myth ~ My dog just isn't well behaved enough for a photo session!

You’re thinking about booking a session and getting some awesome photos of the furry love of your life. The only thing is, you’re pretty sure they’re not going to behave themselves at the photo session, unlike all the dogs you see on this website – they must be perfectly behaved, right?

Personal ~ Introducing Fletcher

If you’ve been following me for a while you might remember we used to have a little Jack Russell cross called Archie, who we lost to a tick a couple of years ago. He and Luna were best buddies and though she gets along fine with Araya the cat, who we adopted last year from Pets Without Partners, we’ve been wanting to add another dog to complete our furry family for a while now. I must admit I fell in love with the Australian Shepherd breed after photographing a few of them – I love their energy and sense of fun and adventure – their trainability and just how gorgeous they are in general!
